Compact double chamber for testing lithium-ion single cells and modules.

The temperature test system for testing lithium-ion energy storage devices has two independent controllable test spaces, which allows to carry out single cell and module tests with efficient use of space.

Operation mode

The temperature test system was developed to test lithium-ion cells. Pressure surges caused by a malfunction are drawn off via a reversible pressure-release flap. Nitrogen inertisation serves to reduce the oxygen concentration to ≤ 3 %. This is used for tests which could produce flammable or explosive gas and air or steam and air mixtures.

The pressure monitoring of the test spaces allows the detection of over pressure caused by the bursting of lithium-ion cells in the test space. For additional fire detection we recommend the monitoring of the temperature of the lithium-ion cells via the battery test system.
