Analyzer

The Series 8900 BTEX and 1,3-Butadiene Analyzer provides direct measurement of Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylenes in ambient air with the added analysis of 1,3-Butadiene. This instrument is utilized in ambient air networks around metropolitan areas and fenceline monitoring at industrial sites. The Series 8900 BTEX Analyzer employs a photoionization detector (PID) as the sensing element. This detector is specific to volitile organic compounds. The 1,3-Butadiene, Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylenes in the gas sample are physically separated using proprietary GC columns. A dual column configuration with timed backflush to vent is used to strip off moisture and heavier hydrocarbons. A pre-cut column is used in series with the analytical column. At sample injection a fixed volume of sample is carried to the pre-cut column. Backflush is timed so that only the BTEX, 1,3-Butadiene, and other similar components are eluted to the analytical column.
